Flexible Learning Options
All our accredited courses are offered on either a full time or part time basis.
The only difference being in the number of subjects you are enrolled in at any one time, rather than how many days per week you attend the campus. On campus courses are offered during weekdays for both full time and part time students. Part time study option is also available for virtual campus studies.
Weekday class option
Students can enrol in weekday classes as either a full time or part time student and this will mean that the core academic units will all be timetabled for delivery where possible over three days of the week, usually Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Following completion of the third term a full time student will have completed the requirements needed to attend the Student Clinic and start completing their practical supervised training.
Clinic opening hours are outside those times when weekday academic classes are delivered and therefore it will be necessary to attend campus for just 5 hours on a separate day or days to attend Clinic. Clinic shifts are usually offered in the afternoons, evenings and weekends at our AIHM natural therapy clinic.
**New intake for weekday classes is in January/July each year.
Virtual class option
The AIHM offers online courses to enable you to study from your home, no matter where you are in Australia, as long as you have a good internet connection. These unique online courses are offered live on real time by qualified lecturers of the AIHM. You can ask questions live from the lecturers. If you miss a lecture don’t worry, you can listen to them in the archive, not just once but as many times as you want during that term.
Unlike many other courses that are advertised as online courses but are offered as correspondence courses, our courses are offered online in real time so that you can participate in those lectures and discussion in an interactive way.
As educators we know there is a very high attrition rates amongst distance learning students. One of the major reasons is that distance learning classes are too flexible and as such we do not get around to doing them. The other major reason is the isolation from the lecturers and fellow students. With our course they are well structured and you see and meet the lecturer during every lecture and you communicate with your fellow students in real time.
Unlike some courses, you can pay for the individual unit(s) of study that you are enrolled in that term.
Once you are enrolled in an online course a passwords and a username will be allocated to you. With that you can login to the student’s section of our web site, where all the lecture materials will be available for you to download. Lecture plans and tutorials are also available for you to download. You will receive a lecture schedule so that you can log in and join the virtual class in real time.
To become a virtual class campus student all you need is a computer – Pentium 4 (or above), current version of Internet Explorer or Fire fox browser , 256KB Broadband Internet connection (or above), Suitable speakers & microphone and a Webcam.
While you study theory components by virtual study mode, students who cannot attend AIHM clinic for their clinical training are required to attend an approved clinic for their clinical training. AIHM also expects the virtual campus students to attend the AIHM clinic at least once during their final year of training, before graduation.
